Emeritus from the Latin "emereor", meaning to deserve, is a blend from the three world-renowned pioneer vineyards of the Dominio de Valdepedusa: Cabernet Sauvignon from 1974, Syrah from 1991, and Petit Verdot from 1992. For this purpose, the estate selected the best vintage from each vineyard and blended them in ideal proportions. This 1997 vintage is the first vintage of this Emeritus cuvée which is still produced to this day.
Blend: 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Syrah and 14% Petit Verdot. The whole was aged in 100% new barrels! Of which 70% came from Nevers and 30% from the Allier forest. This was followed by 36 months of bottle aging. Only 20,854 bottles were produced.
Wuat's review (Tasted on 03/11/2021): We knew the power and potential of Marques de Grinon wines, which is why we tried this great 1997 vintage. This wine is splendid! We could easily give it ten years less. On the nose and in the mouth, the concentration is impressive. Notes of black fruits, very ripe, cherry, blackberry, plum and chocolate coat your palate and remain there for an interminable length. Unbeatable value for money.
