History of the Maison M. Chapoutier

Founded in 1808 in Tain-l'Hermitage, Maison M. Chapoutier is an emblematic figure of the wines of the Rhône Valley. Under the direction of Michel Chapoutier since 1990, the estate has embraced a philosophy of biodynamic viticulture, placing respect for the terroir and excellence at the heart of its practices.

M. Chapoutier is distinguished by its Braille labels, a tribute to Maurice Monier de la Sizeranne, inventor of the Braille abbreviation and a historical figure of the region. Each vintage expresses the identity of a unique terroir, with a particular emphasis on the grands crus of Hermitage and Côte-Rôtie.

Presentation of the “Le Pavillon” vintage

Le Pavillon is one of the most prestigious vintages of the Ermitage appellation. Coming from an exceptional plot in the place called "Les Bessards" , this vintage comes from century-old vines planted on pure granite soil. Made entirely from Syrah , it embodies the power and finesse of the great vintages of the Rhône Valley.

Aged in oak barrels (some of which are new) for around 18 months, "Le Pavillon" stands out for its exceptional longevity, evolving gracefully over several decades.
