History of the Maison M. Chapoutier

Founded in 1808 in Tain-l'Hermitage, Maison M. Chapoutier is an emblematic figure of the wines of the Rhône Valley. Under the direction of Michel Chapoutier since 1990, the estate has embraced a philosophy of biodynamic viticulture, placing respect for the terroir and excellence at the heart of its practices.

M. Chapoutier is distinguished by its Braille labels, a tribute to Maurice Monier de la Sizeranne, inventor of the Braille abbreviation and a historical figure of the region. Each vintage expresses the identity of a unique terroir, with a particular emphasis on the grands crus of Hermitage and Côte-Rôtie.

Presentation of the “L’Ermite” vintage

Mr. Chapoutier's 2010 red Hermitage "L'Ermite" is a true masterpiece of the Rhone Valley. This exceptional wine, produced from old Syrah vines located at the top of the Hermitage hill, is one of the most prestigious vintages of the Chapoutier house. Coming from particularly poor granite soils, it benefits from a unique terroir that gives the wine an unequaled depth and complexity.

The 2010 vintage is simply legendary. It has been awarded perfect scores, including 100 Parker points , confirming its place among the world's most remarkable wines. In the glass, it reveals itself with a deep ruby color. The nose is of exceptional intensity, mixing aromas of ripe black fruits, liquorice, sweet spices, graphite and powerful mineral nuances. On the palate, the concentration is impressive, with silky tannins, perfectly balanced acidity and a never-ending finish.

A rare wine with exceptional ageing potential, to be enjoyed now or left to age for decades of pleasure.
