Gevrey-Chambertin 2001 - Vintage Old Vines - Domaine Charlopin
Grevrey-Chambertin

The Charlopin estate has existed "only" since 1977. At that time it was called Domaine Philippe Charlopin-Parizot and had only 1.5 ha of vines. Today the estate is a must in Burgundy and has more than 25 ha.
Domaine Charlopin has always produced powerful, concentrated wines, aged for a long time in barrels, and that's a good thing. Because Gevrey-Chambertin are above all wines for laying down. This appellation is often considered to produce the most powerful wines in Burgundy. Which, in our opinion, is quite fair.
Have you ever tasted Gevrey wines that are less than 15 years old? Apart from the fact that it is a crime to drink them so young, it is also a real shame because they do not yet fully develop the bouquet of liquorice, leather, fur and undergrowth that characterizes them in their maturity.
If you want to discover or deepen your knowledge of Burgundy wines and particularly the influence of vintages, it is probably with the wines of Gevrey that you should engage.
