The Cuvée Grand Siècle (GC for short) by Laurent Perrier is an exception among the great Champagne vintages.

It is the only one that is not systematically vintage. It is a blend of 3 complementary vintages. One will bring freshness, another structure and a last one aromatic.

"The Grand Siècle vintage is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get" a great man once said.

To help you see things a little more clearly, there are three packagings for three different production periods.

- Bottles with gold labels (Sun King style) and colored caps produced until 1996

- The full black "Arum" bottles, two glossy labels produced between 1996 and 2000

- Full black bottles, matte label produced since.

Since then, many collector's edition variants or vintage numbers N°17, N°24 have been added, but that's another story.

WUAT's opinion: Very clearly the best price/pleasure ratio of the great vintages. If you want to discover or introduce others to the world of great Champagne, this is the vintage to do it with.

The GC appeals to both great champagne lovers and connoisseurs and to discoverers, you know those who "don't like Champagne because it stings the nose and foams in the stomach" 100% conversion to date for our friends.

A small but not insignificant bonus, this vintage ages magnificently well, the "Arum" produced more than 20 years ago are still very fresh, a pure marvel.
