Grands-Echezeaux Grand Cru 1976 - Domaine Gros Brother and Sister
Presentation of the domain:
The Gros Frère et S?ur estate, located in Vosne-Romanée, is one of the most prestigious in the Côte de Nuits. Founded in 1960, it covers an area of 20 hectares spread over several appellations, including the famous Clos Vougeot, Richebourg, Echezeaux and Grands-Echezeaux. The estate's vines are cultivated using organic farming methods and the winemaking is traditional, respectful of the terroir and the grapes.
Presentation of the vintage:
The Grands-Échezeaux is a vineyard located above the village of Flagey-Échezeaux, between Vougeot and Vosne-Romanée in Côte de Nuits, in Burgundy. It extends the Musigny towards the south, with a less turbulent and more regular design. The Grands-Échezeaux and the Échezeaux are separated by the bottom of the Combe d'Orveau. They have been AOC Grands Crus since July 31, 1937, as has the Clos de Vougeot with which they share foundations of the Cîteaux Abbey dating back to the 12th and 13th centuries. The term "chesaux", of Gallo-Roman origin, means a group of dwellings, probably an ancient hamlet.
With an area of only 8.37 hectares and an average annual production of around 36,000 bottles, the Grands-Echezeaux are much rarer than the Echezeaux, which covers 36.12 hectares for an annual production of around 160,000 bottles (which is already very little).
Presentation of the 1976 vintage:
The 1976 vintage in Burgundy was considered a warm and dry vintage, with a generally ripe and concentrated harvest. It is often described as a classic style vintage, with wines that can be elegant, complex and structured. Burgundy wines from this vintage are known for their ability to age well, offering complex aromas and flavors over time. For the 1976 Grands-Échezeaux from Gros Frère et Soeur, it could exhibit specific characteristics related to this vintage, such as the ripeness of the fruit, the concentration and structure of the wine.
Food and wine pairing:
The 1976 Grands-Echezeaux from Gros Frère et Soeur pairs perfectly with dishes of roast meat, game, mature cheeses and mushrooms.
It can also be enjoyed on its own, as a “meditation” wine, to fully savor its complexity and finesse.
Service tips:
To be enjoyed slowly upon opening. It will probably be unnecessary to decant or carafe it despite the deposits. We simply advise you to serve it upon opening in medium-sized glasses and to appreciate its evolution in the glass.
WUAT Note : Please note that several levels are available, no trace of leakage or wear of the corks, the color is perfect, still very red and the dress perfectly clear. These bottles should create great tasting moments.
