Griotte-Chambertin 2013 Grand-Cru - Marchand Brothers
The very exclusive and discreet Marchand Frères estate, located in Morey-Saint-Denis, produces only 750 bottles per year of this Grand Cru.
The Griotte-Chambertin appellation is the most exclusive of the "Chambertin" with only 2.64 Ha, or less than 14,000 bottles produced per year for the entire appellation!

It must be said that with an average age of the vines of 40 years and a yield of 35 Hl per hectare, it is not easy to satisfy all the demand.
The vinification and aging are classic with the exception of a very light filtration on land before bottling.
The 2013 vintage in Burgundy: limiting the damage
A wet and rainy spring, a cool and wet summer, grapes struggling to ripen despite a beautiful August, in short, we were off to a bad start. By "luck" the coulure and lack of maturity limited the yields and increased the concentration. Far from being spectacular, the 2013 vintage produced many surprisingly good wines with an intense aromatic profile. The reds are light and elegant with few tannins and just the right amount of acidity.
