Château Gruaud Larose 1996 - Second classified growth of Saint-Julien
About the domain:
Since its creation in 1725, only 4 families have succeeded one another at the head of this second classified growth, which covers nearly 82 hectares. The Gruaud Larose family, then Balgueries and Sarget who gave their name to the estate's second wine, the Cordier family and today the Merlauts.
Like many great châteaux, Gruaud Larose has turned to environmentally friendly viticulture in "agroecology".

About the vintage:
The Château produces only two wines: the grand vin that you have here and Sarget, produced with young vines or slightly less interesting terroirs.
Fermentation 60% in cement tanks and 40% in oak tuns. followed by a long aging of 16 months in 50% barrels. We advise you to consult the sheet of the 1996 vintage available in the attached documents to learn more.
About the 1996 vintage:
A vintage with capricious and surprising seasons. A particularly warm winter, a freezing spring, a very hot and humid summer and a lot of rainfall in September. In short, everything could have ended badly. But the Château's know-how made it possible to extract the best quality from the grapes, particularly from the Cabernet Sauvignon.
The result is one of the greatest successes of the Medoc.
