Château Gruaud Larose 2015 - Second classified growth of Saint-Julien

About the domain:

Since its creation in 1725, only 4 families have succeeded one another at the head of this second classified growth, which covers nearly 82 hectares. The Gruaud Larose family, then Balgueries and Sarget who gave their name to the estate's second wine, the Cordier family and today the Merlauts.

Like many great châteaux, Gruaud Larose has turned to environmentally friendly viticulture in "agroecology".

About the vintage:

The Chateau produces only two wines: the grand vin that you have here and Sarget, produced with young vines or slightly less interesting terroirs.

Fermentation 50% in cement vats and 50% in oak tuns. followed by 18 months of aging in 80% new barrels.

If you are a technology enthusiast, do not hesitate to consult the 2015 vintage sheet available in the attached documents.

About the vintage:

2015 is a great vintage for laying down, the Cabernet Sauvignon particularly benefited from the very hot and dry summer. Often compared to the 2005 vintage, it can be tasted today after a long decanting to round out the tannins or in several decades.
