The Initial vintage

The Jacques Selosse Initial Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Brut champagne is the embodiment of the inimitable style of this emblematic house. Made from Chardonnay from the prestigious terroirs of the Côte des Blancs (Avize, Cramant and Oger), this cuvée is distinguished by its depth and complexity. The disgorgement in 2016 (on October 25th precisely for this bottle) reveals a perfect maturity, offering a harmonious balance between freshness, creamy texture and aromatic intensity. A rare cuvée, ideal for enlightened connoisseurs and exceptional moments.

Presentation of the Jacques Selosse House:

Since its founding in 1959, Maison Jacques Selosse has been an absolute reference in Champagne, recognized for its bold and artisanal approach. Under the direction of Anselme Selosse, a pioneer of biodynamics and barrel vinification, this house has revolutionized the Champagne world. With only 7 hectares cultivated with extreme care, Jacques Selosse produces vintages with a unique personality, a true reflection of the terroirs of the Côte des Blancs, and is aimed at enthusiasts looking for intense emotions.

Technical characteristics:

  • Grape variety : 100% Chardonnay (Blanc de Blancs).
  • Terroir : Grands Crus of the Côte des Blancs (Avize, Cramant, Oger).
  • Production : 33,000 bottles per year
  • Dosage : Brut (low dosage, typical of the Selosse style).
  • Disgorging : 2016.
  • Condition : Label slightly stained, perfect overall condition.
  • Tasting : Complex aromas of dried fruits, toast and candied citrus fruits, accompanied by chalky and mineral notes. Velvety texture and a very persistent finish.

Food and wine pairings:

A champagne of such depth will pair ideally with refined dishes such as langoustine carpaccio, poached turbot or dishes based on white truffles. It can also enhance mature cheeses such as a 24-month Comté or an aged Parmesan.
