Chateau La Lagune 2002 - Haut-Médoc
Located a few kilometers south of the Margaux appellation, Château La Lagune is one of, if not the Haut-Medoc, the most renowned. Known for its power and great aging potential, it is easy to confuse it with a Margaux cru (Lascombes or Giscours for example).
This 3rd classified growth from 1855, which extends over more than 80 hectares, benefits from 18 months of aging, 55% of which is new wood.
If you are looking for a classic style Bordeaux at a good price/pleasure ratio, this wine is for you.
Just like 2001, the 2002 vintage is one of the most successful of the estate. The Indian summer that followed the catastrophic summer was good for the Cabernet Sauvignon. The slight lack of maturity of the grapes perfectly suited the expertise of the house which was able to vinify it in its classic style "tannin, wood, time". 20 years later it is finally ready to drink but can wait a few more years! Be careful, a good hour of opening or a passage in a carafe is necessary to give it time to open up.
