History of the House
Château La Mission Haut-Brion , an emblematic estate of the Pessac-Léognan appellation, shares a history closely linked to its neighbor and "big brother", Château Haut-Brion. Founded in the 16th century, it acquired a worldwide reputation in the 18th century thanks to its unique terroir composed of deep gravel and subsoils rich in clay and sand.
Purchased by Domaines Clarence Dillon in 1983, the château has seen its infrastructure modernized while respecting tradition. The dominant grape varieties, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and a touch of Cabernet Franc, allow the production of wines that combine power, depth and elegance. La Mission Haut-Brion is regularly hailed as one of the best vintages in Bordeaux.
