About Domaine Gauby

Domaine Gauby , located in Calce , is a jewel of Roussillon and a pioneer of biodynamic practices in the region. Gérard Gauby, an emblematic figure of French viticulture, has taken advantage of the arid and preserved terroirs of Roussillon to produce wines that combine power, finesse and balance. La Muntada is their flagship cuvée, a legendary wine for laying down that fully expresses the philosophy of the estate: respect nature to sublimate the terroir.

Presentation of the La Muntada 2009 vintage

This exceptional wine reflects all the richness and singularity of the Côtes du Roussillon Villages. This iconic vintage embodies the estate's quest for elegance and purity, in a sunny and generous vintage. From century-old vines cultivated biodynamically on schist and limestone terroirs, this vintage is made from a blend of Grenache Noir , Carignan , and Syrah .

Gentle vinification and careful aging in oak barrels allow each vintage to reveal its personality.

When tasted, La Muntada 2009 reveals a deep ruby color with garnet highlights. The nose, complex and captivating, exudes aromas of ripe black fruits, sweet spices, garrigue and a subtle mineral touch. On the palate, the attack is ample and velvety, supported by tannins of remarkable finesse. The balance between power and freshness is exceptional, with notes of candied cherry, liquorice, and a hint of cocoa. The finish is impressively long, marked by a saline freshness.

Vintage 2009

The year 2009 offered ideal conditions in Roussillon: warm temperatures, optimal sunshine and cool nights, favoring an exceptional maturity of the grapes. This vintage is characterized by a great aromatic concentration and a velvety texture, while retaining a beautiful freshness, thanks to biodynamics and a precise harvest.
