About Domaine Gauby
Domaine Gauby , located in Calce , is a jewel of Roussillon and a pioneer of biodynamic practices in the region. Gérard Gauby, an emblematic figure of French viticulture, has taken advantage of the arid and preserved terroirs of Roussillon to produce wines that combine power, finesse and balance. La Muntada is their flagship cuvée, a legendary wine for laying down that fully expresses the philosophy of the estate: respect nature to sublimate the terroir.
Presentation of the La Muntada 2012 vintage
This exceptional wine reflects all the richness and singularity of the Côtes du Roussillon Villages. This iconic vintage embodies the estate's quest for elegance and purity, in a sunny and generous vintage. From century-old vines cultivated biodynamically on schist and limestone terroirs, this vintage is made from a blend of Grenache Noir , Carignan , and Syrah .
Gentle vinification and careful aging in oak barrels allow each vintage to reveal its personality.
When tasted, La Muntada 2012 offers an intense ruby color with garnet highlights. The nose is complex and refined, combining notes of fresh red and black fruits, garrigue, sweet spices and a subtle mineral touch. On the palate, the attack is fresh and silky, the tannins are remarkably fine, and the balance between structure and liveliness is impressive. The finish, long and elegant, reveals nuances of liquorice, black pepper and a salinity typical of the great Roussillon wines.
Vintage 2012
The year 2012 in Roussillon was marked by balanced climatic conditions: moderate temperatures and well-distributed rainfall. This allowed for perfect ripeness of the grapes, with a beautiful concentration and preserved natural acidity. This vintage is distinguished by its balance and finesse, ideal for lovers of elegant and precise wines.
