At WUAT we really like Léoville Barton, the quality is very consistent, the style of the wine is classic and made for aging. In addition to that the price is more "reasonable" than another Léoville? So why not let yourself be seduced?
There were two bottles, but we were weak and one of them was savagely tasted. To this day one of the best left bank 1987s we have tasted.
A little dusty at the opening, the wine opens up after about half an hour. The nose is light but harmonious and delicate, notes of humus, bark and earth and leather arrive first, quickly extended by sweet notes of prune, liquorice and violet.
In the mouth too, the harmony is very present, the attack is fresh, the tannins are melted but the wine is not dead, although it has obviously passed its peak.
A pleasant experience and an honorable wine for this very difficult year for the left banks.
