CHATEAU LEOVILLE BARTON 1990 - SAINT-JULIEN

Presentation of the Domain:

Château Léoville Barton takes its name from the Barton family, who acquired it in 1826 and have kept it ever since. It is one of three estates that were created from Château Léoville, an estate that already existed in the 18th century. In 1855, during the classification of Bordeaux wines, Château Léoville Barton was classified as a second classified growth. Since that time, the estate has been owned by the Barton family.

The Château is known for producing high quality, long-aging wines that have often been compared to the wines of the Right Bank of Bordeaux. The wines are renowned for their richness, complexity and elegance.

Presentation of the vintage:

The Château Léoville Barton cuvée is the estate's main cuvée. It is made from grapes from vines located on a terroir of gravel and clay. The grape varieties used are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, in varying proportions depending on the vintage. The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully sorted before being vinified in stainless steel vats and aged in oak barrels for around 18 months.

The 1990 vintage:

The Château Léoville Barton cuvée in the 1990 vintage is considered one of the best wines produced by the estate. The climatic conditions were ideal that year, which allowed for the production of high-quality grapes. The wine is elegant and complex, with aromas of red fruits, blackcurrant, spices and wood. On the palate, it is powerful and structured, with fine tannins and a beautiful length on the finish.

At Wuat we really like Léoville Barton, the quality is very consistent, the style of the wine is classic and made for aging. In addition to that the price is more "reasonable" than another Léoville... So why not let yourself be seduced?

Be careful, as is often the case, the 1990 vintage is powerful and round, but good aeration before tasting is necessary. But you already knew that.
