About the domain

Philippe Chesnelong, owner of the Les Creisses estate, embodies the winemaking excellence of the Pays d'Oc. Passionate about great wines, he draws inspiration from the region's finest vintages, including La Grange des Pères , to produce wines of character that combine elegance and typicality. On his 15 hectares of vineyard, he cultivates sandstone and limestone soils, bathed in the Mediterranean sun and refreshed by sea winds. Meticulous attention is paid to each stage, from cultivation to maturing, to guarantee consistent and exceptional quality.

About the Cuvée les Creisses

The Les Creisses cuvée has become an emblematic wine of the Pays d'Oc, often compared to legends such as La Grange des Pères. Produced from carefully cultivated plots on the stony terraces of Languedoc, this wine is distinguished by its finesse and power. Made from a skillfully mastered blend of Syrah, Grenache, and a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon, it expresses all the richness and diversity of the terroirs of the south of France.

Its deep garnet color announces a beautiful concentration. The nose, complex and refined, reveals aromas of ripe black fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry), sweet spices, garrigue, and a hint of leather. On the palate, the attack is ample and elegant, with a silky texture and melted tannins. Notes of liquorice, dark chocolate and pepper prolong the tasting, offering a magnificent length.

This perfectly preserved 1997 vintage shows excellent aging potential, although it can be enjoyed now by lovers of complex and balanced wines.

Vintage 1997

The year 1997 offered a balanced climate in the Languedoc, with warm days and cool nights, favoring a slow and uniform maturation of the grapes. The harvest took place in ideal conditions, allowing the extraction of a rich and concentrated material. This vintage is today a testimony of elegance, ready to reveal all its complexity.

Food and wine pairings

Les Creisses 1997 will enhance your meals with:

  • A grilled rib of beef or a rack of lamb with herbs,
  • Duck breast with figs,
  • A cassoulet or a Provençal stew,
  • Matured cheeses such as Saint-Nectaire or old Comté.

Service tips

  • Serving temperature : 16-18°C.
  • Aeration : Decant 1 to 2 hours before tasting to release its aromas.
  • Storage : At its peak, but can still be kept for 5 to 10 years in the cellar.

Technical characteristics

  • Grape varieties : Syrah, Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon.
  • Name : IGP Pays d'Oc.
  • Alcohol : Approximately 14%.
  • Vinification : Vinified with precision to preserve the purity of the fruit, followed by partial aging in oak barrels.

WUAT Notes: Wines from this estate are in high demand and old vintages are almost impossible to find. It is a safe bet that some bottles hidden deep in the cellars will soon resurface with strong speculative potential. To be enjoyed before the price spikes.
