Meursault-Poruzots 2003 1er cru - Domaine Jean Latour-Labille

The Latour estate has existed in Meursault since 1792. It kept the name Latour-Labille until 2011 when it became the Vincent Latour estate.

The wines of the estate are aged for 12 months in 600-litre demi-muids, a small proportion of which are new barrels. The aim is not to mask the aromas of the wine.

This 1er cru "Poruzots" vintage comes from a plot planted since 1947 of only 0.87 ha in clay-limestone soil typical of Meursault. Fermentation in oak barrels, 30% of which are new, and aging for 12 months. Then 4 to 6 months in vats.

The 2003 vintage is particularly magnificent for white Burgundies. As soon as you open it, you will feel its great power, which could remind you of some great wines from the northern Rhone Valley. It will continue to evolve during the tasting. You will therefore be able to taste it as soon as you open it.

What immediately surprised us was its clear, crystalline color with a slight green reflection.

On the nose, menthol and hawthorn notes stand out, but it is quite difficult to describe because it is constantly evolving, and then more fatty and buttery notes are felt.

The palate is different, we feel all the opulence and richness of the 2003 vintage, because after typical pastry notes, it evolves into a more "southern" style with a certain bitterness.

There is no doubt that it still has enormous aging potential.

The wines from this estate age particularly well, we have tasted a few bottles, no trace of oxidation. You can taste this bottle today or wait another twenty years for it.
