CHATEAU MEYNEY 1982 - SAINT-ESTEPHE

Château Meyney is one of the oldest properties in the Médoc.

With its current 51 ha, the estate has changed hands several times, passing from the Luetkens to the Cordier in 1919 and then to CA Grand Crus, a subsidiary of Crédit Agricole in 2004, which intends to exploit the full potential of this excellent Saint-Estèphe. They are assisted by the advice of the oenologist Hubert de Boüard.

On siliceous gravel soils, the vines are between 35 and 40 years old on average and are composed of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot.

Overlooking the Gironde, the vineyard is protected from frost by the river.

Presentation of the 1982 vintage:

The 1982 vintage has entered the legend of Bordeaux, often referred to as the "vintage of the century". After a year marked by a hot and dry summer, the grapes reached optimal maturity, giving rise to rich, complex and perfectly balanced wines. In Saint-Estèphe, this exceptional year allowed the production of wines that were both powerful and velvety, with great aging potential.

The Château Meyney 1982, in this context, is a real gem: with more than 40 years of aging, it reveals an impressive aromatic palette where notes of candied red fruits, undergrowth, leather and sweet spices blend. Its tannic structure has melted over time, offering a velvety mouth and a persistent finish, typical of the great Saint-Estèphe. This vintage is an ideal choice for immediate tasting or to celebrate a significant event.

Parker's Tasting Notes:

Meyney produced an extraordinary 1982. Opaque and garnet in color, it releases a flamboyant nose of liquorice, oriental spices, smoked meat, fine leather and jammy black cherry. Very full-bodied, it reveals a sweet and ample fruitiness, well marked by the chewiness, which perfectly conceals its very abundant tannins. This sappy and beautifully precise wine, which has always been delicious, has acquired more structure with age.
