History of the House of Moët & Chandon

Founded in 1743, Moët & Chandon is a true Champagne institution. With its centuries-old know-how, it has established itself as a global reference. The house has made history with iconic vintages, such as Brut Impérial , a symbol of elegance and refinement, and produces each vintage with rigorous respect for quality and innovation.

Presentation of the Cuvée Brut Impérial

The Brut Impérial cuvée is the soul of the Moët & Chandon house. Developed to express all the richness of the Champagne terroir and the mastery of blends, it is a model of balance between freshness, complexity and structure. The Vintage version, produced only in exceptional years, transcends the expression of each vintage.

Presentation of the 1976 Vintage

The year 1976 was marked by extreme weather conditions: a particularly harsh winter followed by a scorching summer. These conditions resulted in an exceptionally early and concentrated harvest. The wines of this vintage are often characterized by an intense aromatic richness and great generosity in the mouth, while retaining a pleasant acidity, a guarantee of a good capacity for aging.

Specificity of the Brut Impérial Vintage 1976 cuvée

  • Technical details :

    • Blend: Dominant Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with a touch of Pinot Meunier, a classic signature of the house blends.
    • Dosage: Raw (approximately 7-8 g/L).
    • Disgorging: Prolonged aging on lees to develop a remarkable aromatic complexity.
  • Tasting notes :

    • Color : Deep gold, with luminous reflections and a delicate effervescence.
    • Nose : Evolved notes of dried fruits, honey, hazelnut and brioche, with a touch of truffle and undergrowth.
    • Palate : A broad and round attack, with a creamy texture. The flavors of candied fruits and pastry are balanced with a residual acidity, offering a long and persistent finish.
  • State of conservation :
This bottle is in exceptional condition. The label shows minor signs of wear, but the level and color are perfect . A true collector's item. Don't be fooled by the color you seem to see, the glass is strongly tinted brown - green simply, but the color of the nectar itself is limpid , clear and perfect, in addition to the level, it is proof of impeccable conservation!

Food and Wine Pairings

With its maturity and aromatic richness, this vintage champagne is ideal to accompany:

  • Starters: Scallop tartare with citrus fruits or semi-cooked foie gras with figs.
  • Dishes: Roast chicken with morels, veal fillet with cream sauce or turbot meunière.
  • Cheeses: Comté matured for 24 months or truffled Brie.
  • Desserts: Madagascan vanilla millefeuille or caramelized pear tatin.
