Château Mouton Rothschild is a wine estate located in the Pauillac region of Gironde. It was founded in the 18th century and is now considered one of the most prestigious estates in Bordeaux. The estate covers an area of ​​over 90 hectares and is classified as a Premier Cru Classé in the official Bordeaux wine classification of 1855. Every year since 1945, the label has been illustrated by a famous artist (Miro, Picasso or Chagall for example)

Mouton Rothschild is the estate's main cuvée. It was created in 1853 by Nathaniel de Rothschild and was the first Bordeaux cuvée to bear a château name. The cuvée is aged in oak barrels for 18 to 22 months and is known for its complexity and elegance. The 1981 vintage was a rather difficult vintage with erratic weather conditions. Despite this, Mouton Rothschild 1981 is a wine that has aged well and has an excellent reputation.

This particular vintage is considered a solid vintage, although it was not exceptional. The wine is characterized by aromas of red fruits, spices and leather. On the palate, it is elegant, with well-integrated tannins and a long finish.
