Chateau Mouton Rothschild 1982 - Pauillac

About the domain:

Classified as a Premier Cru only in 1973 and not 1855 like its peers. Château Mouton Rothschild is today considered one of the greatest wines in the world. It far surpasses some of the original 1er crus classés in terms of popularity.

The Mouton is making leaps and bounds and is not the most consistent of the 1er crus group until the 2000s. On the other hand, when a vintage is great, it is exceptional! The 1945 or 1982 vintages are legends that almost eclipse the competition! This qualitative irregularity is no more. Today the Mouton is great and can measure itself against the best without fear.

About the vintage:

The label of the 1982 vintage is illustrated by the artist John Huston. This is possibly the greatest Mouton ever produced and the first actually referenced in the history of the Château. To put it simply, Mouton 1982 is one of the legendary wines that you have to taste at least once in your life.

About the 1982 vintage:

If you are reading this, there is no need to introduce the 1982 vintage to you. Here are R. Parker's tasting comments from June 2009:

"The crème de cassis, the underlying floral note, the full-bodied power, the extraordinary purity, the multi-layered texture and the finish of over a minute are a showcase of what this chateau accomplished in 1982. The wine is still incredibly youthful, vibrant and pure."
