Founded in 1827, the GH Mumm house is known for its lively and structured style, relying on a majority of Pinot Noir for powerful and elegant champagnes. Its Cordon Rosé cuvée, less widespread than the Brut version, is a reference among Champagne rosés, highlighting a subtle and refined blend.

The Champagne appellation is based on a terroir of chalky soils offering natural freshness and great aging capacity.

Le Cordon Rosé 1988 is a limited edition, made from a blend dominated by Pinot Noir, accompanied by Chardonnay for elegance and Meunier for roundness. This rosé champagne was obtained by blending with selected red Champagne wine, giving it its delicate color and fruity structure.

Tasting notes (tasted in 2020) :

• Nose: Aromas of fresh red fruits, wild strawberry, raspberry, touches of citrus and sweet spices.
• Palate: Remarkable balance between freshness and deliciousness, still very lively with a nice tension. Persistent finish on redcurrant and candied mandarin.

Presentation of the 1988 Vintage

The 1988 vintage in Champagne is a very great vintage, often overshadowed by 1989 and 1990, but which has proven to have exceptional longevity. The weather conditions allowed for a slow and ideal maturation, producing very balanced, taut and highly complex wines. Even today, these champagnes display superb freshness and remarkable ageing potential.
