Founded in 1827, the GH Mumm house is one of the most prestigious in Champagne. Its emblematic Cordon Rouge, inspired by the Legion of Honor, symbolizes the excellence and know-how of the house. Mumm favors a lively and elegant style, highlighting the freshness and purity of Pinot Noir, its signature grape variety.

Presentation of the Cuvée and the Appellation

The Champagne appellation is based on a unique terroir of 34,000 hectares, benefiting from exceptional chalky soil which promotes the finesse and minerality of the wines.

The Mumm Cordon Rouge Brut Millésimé 1987 is made from a dominant blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, from the house's best vintages. After a long aging in the cellar, this champagne reveals a beautiful structure, a fine mousse and a great aromatic complexity.

When tasting, we find notes of dried fruits, brioche, honey and hazelnut, accompanied by a surprising freshness despite its age.

The year 1987 in Champagne is extremely rare, as very few houses saw fit to produce a vintage. The climate was irregular, with complicated ripening and cool weather conditions, limiting production. Only a few exceptional vintages were produced, often with beautiful acidity and unexpected aging potential.
