Château Phélan Ségur 2014 - Saint-Estèphe
About the domain:
The first traces of the estate date back to the middle of the 18th century with the Clos Garramey and the Ségur de Cabanac estate. But it was Bernard O'Phelan, an Irishman who left Tipperary at the end of the 18th century, who created the Château. Initially named Château Ségur de Garramey, it was after Bernard's death that his son Franck, who gave his name to the estate's second wine, took over and developed the Château's reputation. Franck was also Mayor of Saint-Estèphe for many years. It was only at the beginning of the 20th century, after Franck's death, that the Château bore its current name of Phélan Ségur.

About the vintage:
The castle produces three wines:
- Château Phélan Ségur, great wines present here
- Franck Phélan, second wine in homage to the son of the creator of the estate
- The Bonis Cross, the Saint-Estèphe plus plus "easier"
About the 2014 vintage:
Described as "seductive, with a velvety sensation of crushed plum and cassis, while perfumed notes of espresso and burnt sandalwood coat the finish". A vintage with good ageing potential that is vastly underrated.
