Champagne Pol Roger Extra Reserve Cuvée 2000
The Pol Roger estate in Epernay was founded in 1848, when Pol Roger, aged 18, sold his first bottles. The house in Epernay has remained family-run. It is known for being Winston Churchill's favourite champagne. It is also the benchmark wine of the English court, and was notably served at the wedding of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry (even if this anecdote is probably no longer a good selling point).
On the nose, it reveals a complex and subtle aromatic palette, with notes of dried fruits, spices and honey. On the palate, it is refined and elegant, with a beautiful tension and a persistent finish.
The 2000 vintage was described as "very good" by champagne experts. The Pol Roger house produced this vintage in limited quantities, making it a rare and sought-after champagne by lovers of great champagnes.
