Domaine Auguste Clape, nestled in the prestigious Cornas region, is a must-see in the northern Rhône Valley. This family estate, founded at the beginning of the 20th century, is particularly known for its exceptional Cornas, but it also excels in the production of great white wines, notably in Saint-Péray. For several generations, the Clape family has been committed to respecting winemaking traditions by cultivating its vines by hand on steep slopes. The terroirs of Saint-Péray are characterized by their granite and limestone soils, combined with an ideal temperate climate, which give rise to wines of great finesse and remarkable freshness.

Domaine Clape's Saint-Péray is a true rarity, produced in limited quantities. This exceptional white wine is made mainly from the Marsanne and Roussanne grape varieties, typical of the region. Vinified with care and aged in barrels, it develops a beautiful aromatic complexity while maintaining great purity. Saint-Péray is distinguished by its freshness, elegance and silky texture. It is a white wine that can be enjoyed young for its liveliness or after a few years for a more complex expression.

The 2016 vintage is considered one of the best of the decade in the Rhone Valley. It benefited from ideal climatic conditions: a wet spring followed by a hot and dry summer. These conditions allowed the grapes to ripen perfectly, producing concentrated, balanced and very fine wines. The 2016 Saint-Péray from Domaine Clape is a perfect example, with beautiful freshness, floral aromas and notes of white-fleshed fruits. Its structure and balance make it an elegant and long-lasting wine, with interesting ageing potential.

Food and wine pairings:
This Saint-Péray 2016 goes perfectly with refined dishes such as: Grilled fish or fish in sauce, such as turbot or sea bass with beurre blanc.
