Sancerre
Low stock: 3 left
The most famous producer of Pouilly's fumé whites, available here in its 2016 vintage. "Fumé white" is the name given to the Sauvignon Blanc grape variety. A grape variety originating from the Loire Valley and which expresses itself with vivacity and elegance at Dagueneau.
Sauvignon Blanc is a relatively "easy" grape variety, it tolerates heat, cold, humidity, dryness, in short it is flexible and adapts well to various terroirs and climates. It is, moreover, very aromatic and produces both very dry wines and sweet wines.
Unfortunately, some have abused this great facility. Sauvignon can be found everywhere, of very variable quality, to put it mildly.
What's great about Dagueneau is that they make wine as it should be, where it should be. This Sancerre, from a very small plot, is no exception to the rule. The wine is lively, very lively, full of freshness and acidity. Citrus fruits and stones, everything we love.
WUAT's opinion: As with almost all Dagueneau bottles (which weigh a ton and are very large btw), the wine is clean, lively and deceptively simple. Once again, this cuvée is intended for connoisseurs. This is an almost impossible to find cuvée, do not think too much before ordering it because the opportunity may not present itself again.
