Silex 2018 - Domaine Didier Dagueneau

The most famous of Pouilly's smoky whites available here in its 2018 vintage. "Smoky white" is the name given to the Sauvignon Blanc grape variety. A grape variety originating from the Loire Valley and which expresses itself with vivacity and elegance at Dagueneau. Here, the appellation has been recategorized as Vin de France, which in no way detracts from the talent and quality of LB Dagueneau's wines.

Sauvignon Blanc is a relatively "easy" grape variety, it tolerates heat, cold, humidity, dryness, in short it is flexible and adapts well to various terroirs and climates. It is, moreover, very aromatic and produces both very dry wines and sweet wines.

Unfortunately, some have abused this great facility. Sauvignon can be found everywhere, of very variable quality, to put it mildly.

With this Silex vintage, Dagueneau restores the nobility of Sauvignon. The wine is lively, very lively, full of freshness and acidity. So much so that a few years of aging are almost essential.

WUAT's opinion: This wine is for those who like tight wines. Those who can bite into a lemon without grimacing or be amazed by the smell of wet limestone. But if you're here, you already know that.
