Presentation of the Pol Roger House

Founded in 1849 in Épernay, Pol Roger is one of the most iconic and independent Champagne houses. This family estate, now run by the fifth generation, is renowned for its exceptional champagnes. Winston Churchill, a great lover of the house, inspired the eponymous cuvée, celebrating elegance, robustness and complexity.

Presentation of the Cuvée and the appellation

  • Appellation: Champagne AOC, Champagne region, chalky soils promoting excellent minerality and freshness in the wines.
  • Technical characteristics: The Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill is produced only in the best vintages from the best Grands Crus, mainly Pinot Noir with a touch of Chardonnay. Aged in the cellar for at least 10 years, it embodies power, complexity and balance.
  • Tasting notes: This 1982 vintage is renowned for its richness and brilliance. The wine develops aromas of brioche, dried fruits, candied citrus fruits and a long mineral persistence.
  • Critical notes: Considered one of the house's greatest vintages, it is regularly praised for its excellence.

Presentation of the 1982 Vintage

The 1982 vintage in Champagne is considered exceptional. Marked by a hot and dry summer, it offered perfectly ripe grapes with a beautiful acidity. The champagnes of this vintage are rich, balanced and have great longevity.

Bottle condition

  1. Fine Claire Oysters No. 2.
  2. Caviar from Aquitaine or Iran.

WUAT's comment : Due to the degraded condition of the label and the cap, this rarity is offered at an exceptionally attractive price (approximately 40% discount). The magnum is almost at the price of the 75cl bottle. This magnum remains an exceptional piece, coming directly from a Champagne cellar, which will delight the most demanding amateurs.
