Chateau Talbot 2016 Magnum - Saint-Julien
4th Grand Cru Classé in 1855
Château Talbot is a 110 ha estate in one piece.
Talbot is one of the most famous vintages of the Médoc. For a century, it has remained a family affair. The estate is recognized for the regularity and quality of its vintages. If it can be round and flattering in its youth, it is also an excellent wine for laying down.
The estate produces three wines:
- Château Talbot: the estate’s first wine, aged in barrels for fifteen months in 50% new barrels.
- Le Connétable de Talbot: second wine from vines younger than the first wine, aged for 12 months in barrels.
- Le Caillou Blanc: an atypical white wine for the Médoc because it comes from Cordier's desire to replant white vines in Saint-Julien, it is aged in barrels for 12 months and then on lees for 9 months.
By filling out this form we ask ourselves if we have ever been truly disappointed by a Talbot. And the answer is no! Talbot is the taster's lifeline, the wine that will please everyone in all circumstances. Any Bordeaux lover, or rather wine lover, must have at least one in the cellar, ready to be tasted.
This 2016 vintage is a slightly more tender and accessible Talbot than usual. It is surprisingly round and smooth despite its young age (like many Bordeaux for the generally very successful 2016 vintage). But make no mistake, it remains a Talbot with smoky and spicy notes and aromas of liquorice and slightly woody black fruits.
