Trotanoy 2004 - Pomerol
Do you know where the name Trotanoy comes from? In old French, "trop anoi" or "trop ennuie" means weariness from working the land.
The estate, just over 7 hectares, is located on one of the best exposed parts of the famous Pomerol plateau.
The Jean-Pierre Moueix establishments (Latour, Lagrange, Belair-Monange, Dominus, etc.) acquired it in 1953.
The mix of soils gives the wine power and depth as well as great complexity.
Château Trotanoy is one of the most sought-after wines of Pomerol and produces wines suitable for decades of aging!
The 2004 vintage, very hot, produced fleshy and fruity Pomerols but benefiting from a significant tannic structure and therefore a very respectable aging potential.
Tasting notes by René Gabriel from January 2022:
Château Trotanoy 2004, Pomerol 18/20
Dress: Very dark color, inside there are minimal signs of maturity.
Nose: A rather baroque nose. Large and deep bouquet of spices, black bread crust, black olives, Valrhona chocolate, including a pleasant green spice with a hint of eucalyptus.
On the palate: Lots of character, fleshy and powerful, it will be even better later. A fairly masculine Pomerol, which can be paired with strong dishes. Decant for three hours. I love this wine!
