History of the Veuve Clicquot house

Founded in 1772, Veuve Clicquot is one of the most prestigious champagne houses. Visionary and daring, Madame Clicquot, nicknamed "the great lady of Champagne", revolutionized the world of champagne in the early 19th century with innovations such as the riddling table and the creation of the first vintage champagne in 1810. Today, Veuve Clicquot is recognized worldwide for its distinctive style combining freshness, complexity and elegance.

Presentation of the Trilogie vintage 1988 - 1989 - 1990

The trilogy box is a rarity that brings together three exceptional vintages (1988, 1989 and 1990), all bottled under the "Vintage Réserve" appellation. These vintages are produced only in the best years when the climatic conditions allow the grapes to reach perfect maturity. Each vintage represents a unique signature marked by the house style: structure, intensity and finesse.

Presentation of the 1988, 1989 and 1990 vintages

  • 1988 : A year characterized by cool, dry weather, ideal for slow maturation of the grapes. The champagnes of this vintage are renowned for their freshness, liveliness and exceptional aging potential.
  • 1989 : A sunnier vintage, with warm and regular conditions, which produced rich and opulent champagnes, while retaining a beautiful structure.
  • 1990 : Considered a legendary vintage in Champagne, with ideal climatic conditions for wines that are powerful, balanced and complex. A true jewel in the history of the house.

Technical details and specifications

  • Composition of the vintages : Typical Veuve Clicquot blend composed mainly of Pinot Noir (between 50 and 60%), supplemented by Chardonnay (around 30%) and a touch of Meunier.
  • Vinification : These three vintages benefited from prolonged aging in the cellar, developing complex aromas of dried fruits, spices and a creamy texture.
  • Box : The original wooden box is in excellent condition, including an explanatory leaflet on each vintage.
  • Condition of the bottles : The bottles are in perfect condition, with impeccable levels and colors.
  • Aging potential : Each bottle remains ready to be tasted, but these rare vintages can still improve for patient collectors.

Food and wine pairings

This box, a true tribute to the excellence of champagne, offers a variety of pairing possibilities:

  • 1988 : Ideal with refined seafood such as scallop carpaccio or Gillardeau oysters.
  • 1989 : Perfect for more generous dishes such as turbot poached in champagne cream or truffled Bresse poultry.
  • 1990 : Sublime with exceptional dishes such as pan-fried foie gras or a hard cheese such as Comté 36 months.
