History of the Veuve Clicquot House
Founded in 1772 in Reims, the Maison Veuve Clicquot is one of the pillars of Champagne. A pioneer in its field, it owes its success to Madame Clicquot, nicknamed "The Great Lady of Champagne". This visionary contributed to the rise of vintage champagnes and the riddling technique, which revolutionized the production of sparkling wines. Today, Veuve Clicquot is recognized for its refined and expressive wines.

WUAT Notes:
Beyond the orange brand image, this 1990 vintage cuvée from Veuve Clicquot is extraordinary. We tasted the three great vintages: 1988, 1989 and 1990. All three are very different and of great quality.
The 1990 is the "easiest" of the three. Very chalky, suave and velvety. Notes of toast, brioche and white flower. This bottle is one of those that you remember for a long time. You remember when you drank it and with whom. In short, you are tasting a moment, not a champagne.
We also strongly recommend that lovers of champagnes and old vintages taste the vintage cuvées of many major houses (Mumm, Moet, Besserat, De Venoge etc.) before high demand makes them unaffordable.
These old bottles, if aged in good conditions, reveal charms that are very different and much more attractive than the recently disgorged vintages. But this is only our humble opinion.
