The Cornas appellation is, along with Saint-Péray, the southernmost of the appellations in the northern Rhône valley. A complicated sentence to say "The most southerly of the wines of the North". The Syrah vines that make up the appellation in its entirety, are exposed to the south-east, between 125 and 400 m above sea level. Suffice to say that in the summer it is hot, very hot.
The Syrah expresses itself with power and often benefits from a great aging potential. The intense aromas of black fruits and spices of the young wines slowly evolve towards aromas of leather, pepper and truffle.
Cornas wines have been in high demand for a decade. It must be said that with only 155 ha of vines and extremely low yields of 34Hl / ha on average, the supply is low.
Jean Lionnet's wines are strongly woody and require long years of aging to be fully appreciated. We strongly recommend that you open the bottle at least 6 hours before tasting it.
