Barolo Bussia Soprana 1988 - Aldo Conterno

About the Aldo conterno estate:

Poderi Aldo Conterno is a renowned and highly sought-after Piedmontese producer, known for its wines from the best plots of the Bussia vineyard in Monforte d'Alba. Aldo Conterno, who died in 2012, was considered by many to be the greatest of all Barolo winemakers.

The vineyard extends over approximately 25 hectares and is mainly located on south and south-west facing slopes with clay-limestone soils. The Cru Barolos are made from the Romirasco, Cicala and Colonello plots of the Bussia vineyard

This “Conca Tre Pile” cuvée comes from a hilly area of Bussia Soprana whose Barbera vines are less than 45 years old.

Exceptional provenance: These bottles come from a cellar of a great Swiss enthusiast and collector. We have acquired the complete collection containing more than 200 bottles of mainly French and Italian wines. The bottles were all preserved following their purchase en primeur or shortly after their marketing on site, in a natural cellar buried under a 16th century convent. A damp cellar, which is why some labels are very worn. The levels are generally excellent or perfect and the most "fragile" bottles reflect storage in total darkness for more than 30 years!
