List of products by brand Château Soutard - Saint-Emilion Grand Cru

Château Soutard is a Grand Cru Classé wine estate located in Saint-Emilion. The 30-hectare (75-acre) vineyard is located on a limestone plateau just north of the town of Saint-Émilion

In 2006, Soutard was bought by the La Mondiale Grands Crus group, which already owned Château Larmande and Château Grand Faurie La Rose, both located in Saint-Emilion. Three years later, La Mondiale acquired the neighboring Cadet-Piola estate and grouped it with that of Soutard.

Soutard is known for its Merlot-dominant red wine. The vineyard is mainly based on the clay-limestone soils of the plateau but also has smaller portions on either sandier or more clayey soils.

As in much of the region, Merlot remains the predominant grape variety with 63% of the vineyard. Next come Cabernet Franc 28%, Cabernet Sauvignon 7% and Malbec 2%.

The main blend is the classic Merlot – Cabernet Franc sometimes supplemented with Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec depending on the vintage.

The wine is vinified partially in stainless steel vats in concrete vats and in wooden vats. Malolactic fermentation takes place in barrels. Château Soutard is then aged in 60% new French oak for approximately 18 months.
