Domaine Laroche - Chablis 1er cru "Les Montmains" 2014
About the domain:
The Obédiencerie is a historic building that bears witness to more than 1000 years of history! The cellars of the Laroche estate are established there to produce exclusively Chablis wines in the village appellation, 1er cru and grand cru.
Since the beginning of the 2000s, the estate has owned vines in Languedoc with Mas la Chevalière.
About the cuvée:
The 1er cru "Les Montmains" from Domaine Laroche is a "climat" on slightly sloping hillsides on the banks of the Serein. This sun-drenched terroir and clay soil make it a powerful and structured early premier cru.
Opinion of WUAT: We tasted Montmains de Laroche from the end of the 1980s, the wines gave the impression of not aging. As with many wines from the Chablis appellation, you can keep them for many years before tasting them. Definitely an excellent price/pleasure ratio.
About vintage 2014 in Chablis:
The 2014 vintage was the hottest of the last 130 years in Chablis. However, the region suffered from rainfall which brought the freshness necessary for the production of great ripe and balanced white wines. Despite bad weather, especially hail, production was high.
