Maison Leroy - Chassagne-Montrachet 1er cru "Morgeot" 2014
About the House and Domaine Leroy:
Leroy offers two entities. A historical trading activity "La Maison Leroy" on the one hand. And a winegrower's activity "Le Domaine Leroy" on the other hand.
The "Maison de négoce Leroy" was founded in 1868 by François Leroy until then winemaker and owner of vines in Auxey-Duresses and in the most beautiful appellations of Burgundy. It is the emblematic Madame Lalou Bize-Leroy who has managed the house since 1971. The wines from the trade and branded with the name "Leroy" are always selected with the greatest rigor and produced in very small quantities.
The "Domaine Leroy" has 9 plots in the grand cru appellation, 8 in the premier cru, 9 in the village and a few generics. All the plots are converted to biodynamics as soon as they are acquired, since 1988.
The name Leroy is now a must, renowned for its regularity and extreme quality for all the bottles bearing its name.
About the cuvée:
This 1er cru Morgeot is a great wine for laying down, ample and balanced by this great 2014 vintage, neither too hot nor too cold. The clayey soil of Morgeot brings roundness and fat where the limestone subsoil brings freshness and minerality. This 1er cru from Leroy rivals many grands crus.
About the 2014 vintage:
The 2014 vintage is a great success for all the white wines of the Côte de Beaune.
