Comtes Lafon 1995 - Meursault "Clos de la Barre"
Level: Perfect
Color: Perfect
Label: Stained and slightly torn
Overall condition: Very good
With a rich history that began in Meursault at the end of the 19th century, the now legendary Domaine des Comtes Lafon is still a family property today managed by the descendants of Jules Lafon.
The vineyard has "only" 16.30 hectares spread over 15 appellations from 4 municipalities: Meursault, Chassagne-Montrachet, Volnay and Monthelie.
This Clos de la Barre cuvée is a monopoly of only 2ha12 located just behind the house of the estate. The vines on the plot are 30 to 80 years old.
This unique Meursault, with a mineral and lively character, will need to age for several years to settle down. Young, it will unveil citrus aromas which will evolve towards more pastry and mineral notes over time.
The 1995 vintage harvest took place on September 28 and 29. The difficult flowering conditions resulted in very low yields of only 25 hectoliters per hectare. The whites of this vintage are excellent and comparable to 1992 thanks to the good ripening conditions of the grapes.
