Comtes Lafon 1997 - Meursault-Charmes 1er cru
Label: Stained and slightly torn
Overall condition: Very good
With a rich history that began in Meursault at the end of the 19th century, the now legendary Domaine des Comtes Lafon is still a family property today managed by the descendants of Jules Lafon.
The vineyard has "only" 16.30 hectares spread over 15 appellations from 4 municipalities: Meursault, Chassagne-Montrachet, Volnay and Monthélie.
This Charmes 1er cru cuvée of only 1ha71 is located on the Charmes du Dessus plot. The vines of the plot were planted in 1946, 1963 and 1996.
Meursault Charmes des Comtes Lafon is renowned for its balance between power and freshness. Its natural acidity gives it great aging potential and improvement, the peak of which is often beyond 20 years.
The harvest for the 1997 vintage took place from September 18 for the oldest vines and September 21 for the "young" 40-year-old vines in very good sanitary conditions.
