Pommard 1er cru "Clos des Arvelets" 1986 - Domaine Virely-Rougeot
Overall condition: Very good
Location: The "Clos des Arvelets" 1er cru of the Virely-Rougeot estate is a 2-hectare plot located on one of the best terroir in Pommard.
Vinification and aging: Alcoholic fermentation in natural yeasts for 15 days in wooden vats (which is rare enough to be underlined. Malolactic fermentation and aging in 228-liter oak barrels, the proportion of new barrels of which changes depending on the vintage. Light filtration during of bottling.
Style and aging: Very delicate and fine wine with present but very supple tannins. Like many Pommard wines, it has considerable aging potential.
The 1986 vintage is not the best vintage in Burgundy and therefore in Pommard. Fortunately, wines with a naturally more structured style like those of Pommard have aged quite well.
