Level: Perfect
Color: Perfect
Label: Slightly stained
Overall condition: Excellent
The Tollot-Beaut estate has worked 25 hectares of vines in four communes of the Côte de Beaune for five generations.
About the cuvée: The Premier Cru Clos du Roi takes its name from Louis XI, former owner of the Clos who acquired it following the death of Charles le Téméraire. Located north of Beaune, the Clos du Roi produces fresh and elegant wines while maintaining an important structure. The breeding takes place over a period of 16 to 18 months in 50% of new barrels.
The 1996 vintage is one of the "Greatest vintages" in Beaune. It is at the same level as 2002 or 1985 which offer significant aging potential.
Tasting advice: Try to open the bottle two hours before serving. You can also serve in tall glasses upon opening and let breathe for about fifteen minutes before tasting.
