Presentation of the cuvée:
Château Coutet is recognized for its ability to produce sweet wines of great finesse and remarkable aromatic complexity. The estate attaches great importance to traditional methods of selective harvesting and manual sorting of the grapes, guaranteeing the exceptional quality of its wines.
The 1986 vintage:
The 1986 vintage in Barsac was marked by climatic conditions favorable to the development of noble rot. Château Coutet 1986 presents a brilliant golden color. Its nose reveals aromas of apricot, honey, spices and candied fruit. On the palate, it offers a harmony between the sweetness of the residual sugar and the acid freshness, giving way to an elegant and persistent finish.
"Fairly early, with a well-developed bouquet of tropical fruits, honey and spring flowers, it reveals itself to be very full-bodied and rich, revealing on the palate aromas of apricot and peach very marked by botrytis and underpinned by a tonic acidity. The finish, heady and long, is also balanced thanks to the acidity of the whole." Robert Parker November 1991
Food and wine:
Château Coutet 1986 goes wonderfully with foie gras (cliché), blue-veined cheeses, exotic dishes and citrus desserts. It can also be savored on its own as an aperitif or digestive.
