Emeritus from Latin "emereor", meaning to deserve, is a blend from the three world-renowned pioneer vineyards of the Dominio de Valdepedusa: Cabernet Sauvignon from 1974, Syrah from 1991, and Petit Verdot from 1992. For this purpose, the estate has selected the best cuvée from each vineyard and blended them according to ideal proportions. This 1997 vintage is the first vintage of this Emeritvs vintage which is still produced to this day.
Blend: 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Syrah and 14% Petit Verdot. The whole was aged in 100% new barrels! 70% of which come from Nevers and 30% from the Allier forest. 36 months of aging in the bottle followed. Only 20,854 bottles were produced.
Wuat's opinion (Tasted on 03/11/2021): We knew the power and potential of Marques de Grinon wines, which is why we tried this great vintage from 1997. This wine is splendid! We could easily give him ten years younger. On the nose and on the palate, the concentration is impressive. Notes of black fruit, well ripe, cherry, blackberries, plums and chocolate line the palate and stay there for an interminable length. An unbeatable value for money.
