Silex 2018 - Domaine Didier Dagueneau

Level: Perfect
Label: Perfect
Overall condition: Perfect
The most famous of the "Blanc fumé de Pouilly" available here in its 2014 vintage. The "Blanc Fumé" is the name given to the Sauvignon Blanc grape. Grape variety born in the Loire Valley and which expresses itself with vivacity and elegance with Dagueneau. Here, the appellation has been recategorized as Vin de France, which in no way detracts from the talent and quality of LB Dagueneau wines.
Sauvignon Blanc is a relatively "easy" grape variety, it tolerates hot, cold, humidity, dryness to make it shorter, it is flexible and adapts well to various terroirs and climates. It is, moreover, very aromatic and produces very dry wines as well as sweet wines.
Unfortunately, some (too many) producers have abused from this too great flexibility. Sauvignon is found everywhere, of varying quality, to put it mildly.
With this Silex cuvée, Dagueneau gives back its nobility to Sauvignon. The wine is lively, very lively, all in freshness and acidity. So that a few years of aging are almost mandatory.
WUAT's opinion: this wine is for those who like fresh wines. Those who can sink their teeth into a lemon without wincing and marveling at the smell of damp limestone rock. But if you are here, you already know that.
