Château Calon-Ségur has one of the most beautiful historic among the Bordeaux Châteaux. He was indeed the favorite of the Marquis de Ségur who, although he owned small other rather pleasant estates like Mouton, Lafite and Latour (just that), preferred Calon. Hence the very famous phrase "I make my wine in Lafite and Latour, but my heart is in Calon.
The 1984 vintage was competently eclipsed by the many "great" vintages that followed it. However, in recent years, enthusiasts have taken an interest in it again (the same goes for vintages 83 and 87). We realize that the wines are not that "thin" and that some great successes easily cross the decades and deserve to be tasted.
