Cos d'Estournel 1991 - 2nd classified growth of Saint-Estèphe
Is it still very useful to present the Cos d'Estournel? This 2nd classified growth from 1855 is by far the most famous Saint-Estèphe. Its powerful and elegant style, and the very consistent quality it has demonstrated for over 50 years, make it one of the best Bordeaux, sometimes better rated than some 1er Grands Crus Classés.
Cos almost always has considerable cellaring potential. The 1986 and 1988 vintages are still somewhat closed today.
The 1991 vintage in Bordeaux is a correct vintage but with a low harvest, the terrible spring frosts having devastated most of the Bordeaux vineyards. The wines are supple and pleasant, but not very concentrated. Despite everything, the greatest successes are found in Pauillac, Saint-Julien and Saint-Estèphe!
Do not hesitate to taste this Cos d'Estournel over 30 years old !
