Is it still very useful to present the Cos d'Estournel? This 2nd classified growth from 1855 is by far the most famous Saint-Estephe. Its powerful and elegant style, and the very consistent quality it has demonstrated for more than 50 years, make it one of the best Bordeaux, sometimes better rated than some 1er Grand Cru Classé.

Cos almost always has considerable aging potential. The 1986 and 1988 vintages are still somewhat closed today. The excellent 2010 vintage, more classic and "closed" than 2009, is particularly suited to the very long aging style of Cos d'Estournel. Rated 99+ by RP it had to wait at least ten years to be tasted. However, you can let it age for another twenty years without risk.

If you want to enjoy it today, we advise you to open it and pour it into a carafe for at least two hours serving to let it express itself fully.
