Gigondas 1991 - Domaine L. de Vallouit
About the estate L. de Vallouit:
Bottles just out from the estate! In excellent conditions of conservation and aging.
Domaine L. de Vallouit was a magnificent family estate in the northern Rhône Valley. One of the few to have vines in all the northern Rhône appellations, with the exception of Château Grillet, of course. In 2001, the estate's vines were taken over by Guigal, which incorporated them into some of its most prestigious cuvées.
About the cuvée:
The Gigondas appellation is located in the south of the Rhône valley, east of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. It produces rich and juicy red wines with aromas of kirsch fruits. They often have great aging potential and evolve towards notes of undergrowth and truffle.
90% of the blend is made up of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre grapes.
About the 1991 vintage at Gigondas:
1991 is an excellent vintage for Syrah from the North of the Rhone Valley. Unfortunately this is less true for the south, of which Gigondas is a part, where the wines are slender and less interesting. But what do you want, we do not choose his year of birth.
